The Our Lady of La Vang statue depicts the Virgin Mary, with Baby Jesus in her arms, as they are believed to have appeared in a 1798 Marian apparition in Vietnam. The Diocese of Orange and Christ Cathedral unveiled the shrine before thousands of supporters during an elaborate July 17 solemn blessing day that included a Mass, processional and live entertainment.
