During these weeks of our Christ Cathedral Parish Stewardship Renewal, we have reflected on the stewardship way of life and how it is rooted in living every day from a place of gratitude. We were reminded that living with a thankful heart means growing in our love for God and each other. We thought about our call to serve others, especially those most in need. Last week, we reviewed the Lord’s invitation to generously share our gifts through which the world will be a better place because we were here.
Growing in love, being of service and generously sharing our gifts happens through the life and ministry of our parish. Every Sunday we stand up to the negativity and cynicism of the world by gathering to celebrate Mass. Strengthened by the presence of the Lord in the Scriptures and Eucharist, moved by the beauty of ritual and music and reassured by each other’s presence, we are sent back into the world with new hope.
From birth to death, we are educated and formed in the ways of our Catholic faith. In our parish, adults are initiated into the Church, our children are baptized, receive First Communion and are confirmed in the Holy Spirit. Couples are joined in Holy Matrimony, our sins are forgiven, the infirm are strengthened and our beloved deceased are given their final farewell as they enter eternal life. Those in need get relief through our community outreach. All of us are stronger because we are part of a visible community of faith.
Your financial support of Christ Cathedral Parish helps all of this and more to happen. Know that whatever portion of your financial resources you pledge to share during this coming year is very much appreciated. The world has been and will continue to be made new because together we grow in love, serve others and generously share the gifts that have been given to us.
Together in faith,
Very Rev. Christopher Smith, Rector
